Documenting a Day
Hello Everyone and welcome back!
Today we will compare the functions of some applications. I have completed several different functions within Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I have learned new features and polished other. These applications are similar; however, they have different functions when compared to each other. It is recommended the use each application according to what fits more appropriately. Different scenarios require separate applications and tools. It helps to know what is the most practical application for each scenario. Knowing how to use this application will aid in your daily tasks.
Microsoft
Word, Excel, and Powerpoint are Microsoft tools that can help you be more
productive. Although they have similar
functions, each has a different purpose.
Below is a small list of simple functions that can be performed in all
three applications:
1.
Copy and Paste function
2.
File Open
3.
Save
4.
Print
5.
Text formatting such as underlining, bold,
size, etc.
6.
Adding numbering and bullet points
7.
Search
8.
Find and Replace
However, each application has its purpose. For example, Word can be used to write letters, essays, articles, memos, and most tasks that require extended written content. Excel is very similar in the way that you can also write content. However, this tool has many more features that allow you to create charts, graphs and manage data efficiently. As concluded by a scholarly article, “Using Microsoft Excel offers an alternative for small and medium-size audit firms to consider when they perform journal-entry testing or other CAAT during audits” (Voytsekhivska & Voytsekhivskyy, 2021). Because of the ability to create charts and graphs, you may be tempted to use Excel to present data. However, the best tool for presentations is PowerPoint. Powerpoint can let you create slide show presentations. Also, Powerpoint gives you the tools you need to enhance the visual content of your presentation and integrate Word and Excel in the process. In a study aimed to educate students about the importance of a healthy breakfast using Powerpoint, “The results of the comparison between the pretest and posttest showed an increase in respondents’ knowledge after taking action in the form of education on the importance of having a healthy breakfast by consuming nutritious food” (Aprilianti & Nandiyanto, 2022).
To sum up everything
that has been stated so far. The
application that was most appropriate for documenting the information about my
day was the spreadsheet in Excel. I could
easily see where my time was spent most of the day. Also, creating a chart gave me a visual
understanding of my daily activities, including the percentage of my day spent on
each task. To put it in a better perspective,
I will describe a scenario and the application most beneficial for each
scenario. To write a resume, Word would
be the most suitable application. Excel
will be the best application if you need to create a budget to manage your
money. And lastly, if you have a school
presentation, it would be most helpful to use Powerpoint. All applications are very similar; however,
each has its purpose.
